Club and the Juvenile Justice Commission. It provides the courts with an alternative sentencing option for juveniles who would otherwise be committed to the Commission.
The program operates Monday through Friday. Participants are picked up at their homes by 8:00 a.m. and returned home by 5:30 p.m.
The program's primary aim is to address the recognized risk factors of delinquency and approach each juvenile's needs on an individual basis. The program addresses educational/vocational performance, family support, peer influence and community support.
Juveniles also participate in various community service projects including basic maintenance and beautification assignments, as well as social service projects that serve needy populations.
During the third phase of the program, each juvenile identifies a project that will benefit his or her community. The juvenile must complete the project in order to advance to the final month of the program.
Before juveniles complete the program, they are matched with a mentor. Mentors meet with program staff, probation staff, and guardians at least three times while the juvenile is in the program. Release plans out line each mentor's commitment to a released juvenile.
