The Juvenile Medium Security Facility (JMSF) is the most secure facility operated by the Juvenile Justice Commission. It provides a secure and structured environment for male juveniles committed by the courts. Most juveniles are assigned to JMSF due to poor adjustment to residential programs or the New Jersey Training School. In addition, individuals may be assigned to JMSF during their initial classification based on the seriousness of their crime.

JMSF has the capacity to serve 118 male offenders. The age of the residents range from 14 to 20 with the majority of residents being 16 or 17 years old.

JMSF provides training, control and rehabilitation for those young offenders who are unable to participate in a less secure setting. This diverse group of juveniles possesses serious emotional and behavioral disorders that require a highly structured and secure environment.

In addition to their academic curriculum, residents are also assigned to vocational programs designed to teach skills that they can use upon their return to the community. Vocational programs include drafting, carpentry, computer skills, graphic arts, and upholstery.
